My personal favorite part of my wedding was when it was over, and we were in the car headed to our honeymoon in St. Petersburg, Florida. Not to say I didn't enjoy my wedding day, it was awesome, and I have the scar on my face to prove it (I fell face first into some gravel...I expected it to happen at some point, though; I'm not that graceful), but that year-long period of planning my big day took a toll on my psyche, and I needed a break bad.Read More
I love hearing about weddings that are outside the norm, and I was excited when Candice, a girl I went to high school with, approached me with her awesome story about her Zero Waste Nuptials, and when I eagerly asked her a million questions, she happily answered them. Here is our conversation:
So on a Pinterest binge last night I came across a really unique bouquet arrangement featured on The Wedding Chicks where chili peppers were added to a floral arrangement to give it a spicy flair.
I think that's an amazing statement piece, and in the Wedding Chicks' article shows how the peppers were perfectly placed in many facets of a particular wedding. I have an obsession with spices and have an array of different peppers growing (my habaneros are going to be Bonsai'd, but that doesn't have anything to do with weddings...that'll be for another blog I'm planning) and chili peppers can be utilized in the same way the ever-changing succulents are in weddings.
I came up with a simple board of inspiration to go alongside the chili-bouquet: a red dip-dyed wedding dress is easy to do, have a spicy taco bar, make your bridesmaids sexy in a red hot lace dress that they'll actually want to wear after the wedding, and accent your peppers with red flowers.
Once my peppers come in I will attempt to recreate the bouquet with one of our awesome florist friends!

I don't really like cake.
Yeah, I know, it's weird, but unless it's ice cream cake, I rarely eat cake.
We opted for cupcakes for our own wedding so that we could get more flavors and there be more portability than regular cake, and they were delicious, but I only ate like one or two cupcakes the whole wedding, and we gave the leftovers out at the after-party. While browsing Pinterest and stumbling across an "Alternative Cake" pin, I decided to scour the web and find true alternatives to a Wedding Cake that aren't cupcakes, that can fit your budget, and that I wish I could have had instead of regular cake!Read More
This week's Color Palette is a perfect scheme for a May or June Wedding (I really hope that if your wedding is this May or June, you've already picked out your color scheme!!); It consists of a soft lavender, punctuated by sunny yellow, with nice neutral grey, and lush greens to tie it all together.
Let me know in the comments below if this palette was helpful, or if you used a similar palette for your wedding!
Since Logan and I offer DJ for Weddings and events, we can pick up on trends for music. These are the top 10 First Dance Songs that brides request for us to play!
Our first dance song was "This Feeling" by the Alabama Shakes
What was your First Dance song, or what are you planning on using for your First Dance? I'd love to read your comments on it!
This week's theme will transport you and your guests to a Royal Garden no matter where your wedding is located! The emerald green and fuschia colors spread throughout with tablecloths, uplighting, vases, and such, give the illusion of luscious plants, so you don't have to go overboard with buying flowers. I am partial to sparkle, so adding some gold into the mix makes any event instantly classier!
